Resolved, That the following rule is upheld:
When it is appropriate, members should offer each other a handshake. The handshake should be firm, conducted with direct eye contact, and consist of two upward and downward motions of the forearm, taken at the elbow. The rest of the arm and body should remain still, yet hinging at the elbow the forearm should move. The grip should be as firm as one grips a doorknob to turn it.
The shake must always be conducted with the right hand. The left hand should be kept out of the pocket, and must be open, not clenched.
The grip should neither be too light, which is classically referred to as a "limp wrist" or the "dead fish's grip," nor too harsh and overbearing, which shows rudeness and ill-breeding. Generally, however, it is best to err on the side of firmness with some discretion.
